Buju ‘Excited’

Last night, the nominations for the 53rd Grammy Awards were announced, including nominees for Best Reggae Album: Buju Banton, Gregory Isaacs, Lee “Scratch” Perry, Bob Sinclair And Sly & Robbie, Sly & Robbie And The Family Taxi, and Andrew Tosh. (full information below).

I am pleased that the ‘Cool Ruler’, Gregory Isaacs is nominated albeit posthumously. Also nominated, my personal favorite, Gargamel himself, Buju Banton. RCS spoke with Buju’s manager Tracii McGregor over at Gargamel Music. “its a brilliant record! Both Buju and myself are appreciative of the recognition. This is Buju’s fifth nomination in this particular category and it speaks to his resilience and excellence as an artist. Buju is one of the greatest of all time. It couldn’t have come at a better time. We are very excited’‘ Unfortunately, Buju may still be in the midst of his legal battles when the winner is announced at the 53rd Grammy Awards on February 13 in Los Angeles. Congratulations to all the nominees for Best Reggae Album!

By the way, Eminem leads the Grammy pack with 10 nominations. For a complete list of nominations, download the 2011 Nominees as a PDF…
