BronzeLens Film Festival producers have selected five distinguished women to receive the coveted BronzeLens Women Superstars Award in honor of their contributions to the film and television industry during the BronzeLens Women SuperStars Luncheon (WSSL), August 26, 2016, at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. This groundbreaking event was created in 2010 to recognize some the nation’s most successful women of color in film and television. Over the last seven years it has become a must-attend signature event for industry insiders, corporations and the local community. “The BronzeLens Women SuperStars Luncheon has become a favorite festival for inspiring and informing women from all walks of life. It serves as an industry platform for interactive networking and engagement”, said Kathleen Bertrand, Executive Producer of the BronzeLens Film Festival.
From legends to emerging stars in front of the lens and behind it, BronzeLens Women SuperStars are women who have significantly influenced the film and television industry. The 2016 honorees include veteran actress Margaret Avery(The Color Purple, Being Mary Jane), award winning filmmaker Julie Dash, (Daughters of the Dust), President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) Cheryl Boone Isaacs, producer Nina Yang Bongiovi, (Dope, Fruitvale Station) and script supervisor Dawn Gilliam (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek Into the Darkness, The Hunger Games).
