The Joseph and Evelyn Lowery Institute for Justice & Human Rights and Delta Air Lines have partnered to present “Grounded in History, Soaring into the Future,” a special evening honoring the Institute’s Change Agents Violence Initiative and the 94th birthday of civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery.
The event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 5:30 p.m. at the Delta Flight Museum in Atlanta, and will feature special musical tributes from award-winning vocalists Kathleen Bertrand, Jennifer Holliday and Estelle [Estelle is of Caribbean (Grenada) heritage]. .
The event aims to raise funds to support the Institute’s various programs, namely the Change Agents Violence Initiative, a program that trains and awards grants to 14 undergraduate students in the metro Atlanta area to mentor students in developing conflict-resolution skills and non-violent strategies.
