Style Fashion Week is a plethora of fashion shows and events that host showcases in New York, Los Angeles, Dubai and Cairo! I had the opportunity to attend my first Style Fashion Week event for the Spring Summer 16 collections. The shows took place at the very beautiful venue, Gotham Hall in the Garment District. I saw several great designers with very different styles which made for a very exciting show.
Quynh Paris
Her designs consisted of evening wear and ready to wear items. The gowns were very intricate and ornament like in the designs. They were composed of sheer fabrics that were conjured into intricate styles. Here ready to wear collection seemed have a theme of asymmetry. Each dress, top, and skirt was patterned in this fashion. She is noted as costume designer for Mozart’s the Magic Flute overseas and you can see where some of the influences of costume design cross over into her collection.
Santa Clara Moda
Santa Clara Moda is an evening-wear designer whose designs are whimsical and somewhat mystical. Her models looked like goddesses that just glided down the runway effortlessly. She has an affinity for using lace within her gowns which added an extra touch of femininity. One of her designs incorporated fringe which is a very big trend right now. It was a playful way to incorporate this style into one of her cocktail dresses. She has a great understanding of fluidity in a garment.
Chris Ber’y
Russian designer Chris Ber’y showcased some gorgeous pieces with very intricate details within her designs. Her focus is on form fitting dress for the silhouette. This is her signature style. Her gowns were in many fabrications such as leather with flowers made from the fabric and strategically placed throughout garment. The metallic strapless gown that she created was a show stopper! Her gowns were very sexy but exuded elegance at the same time. I would say she is the go to designer for absolute perfection!
Esosa
This was absolutely my favorite designer at this venue. The prints and textures of this collection were rich and well constructed. The line had a little bit of everything from ethnic prints, soft and frilly feminine styles to minimalist clean designs. It all tied together to created pieces that flow with one another. Emilio Sosa is Project Runway alum who has become a breakout designer. His designs have range and has been worn by Kendall Jenner, Taraji P Henson, Estelle and Wendy Williams. This high end brand is only going to get bigger and better with time.
