Joseph Singh’s designs were breathtaking! The minimalist styling paired together with color and texture made for a stunning, clean and concise collection. This up and coming designer is definitely one to watch. He has been a nominee as Parsons Designer of the year as well been featured in many publications and Style.com. Joseph graduated at the top of his class from Parsons School of Design and has worked as a designer at Theyskens Theory.
His concept behind his designs are dark and have a goth like appeal. He likes to manipulate fabrics and create looks that you wouldn’t consider merging together like his silk corduroy dress with organza pleating. I loved the idea on styling all of the looks with flat oxford type shoes. It brought a menswear touch to the feminine designs. This show was presented as if you were in a museum admiring art and indeed, it was art.
I thought that Joseph Singh’s collection was very timeless and with a hint of edge. Some of the designs were youthful yet mature. He has put together a solid and cohesive line and the idea and concept of using the Hotel Rivington as the back drop was a perfect match. Here are a few looks from his collection.
