With four nominations each, grammy-award winning Jamaican dancehall artist Sean Paul, conscious roots reggae artist Chronixx and Major Lazer lead the pack for the 33rd Annual International Reggae and World Music Awards (IRAWMA). This year’s festivities are scheduled to take place at the Coral Spring Center for The Arts in Florida, on Saturday, October 4.
Biggups to the small island nominees including Virgin Islands’ own Pressure Buss Pipe who is nominated for Best Album. Kevin Lyttle of St. Vincent will be receiving an Award of Honor and Grenada’s Mr. Killer is nominated for Best Soca Song with “Rolly Polly”.
There are also several special awards being presented including an induction to the Hall of Fame for singers Bobby Aitkens, Mykal ‘Grammy’ Rose — formerly of Black Uhuru, and Dr Audley Rollens. IRAWMA Award of Honor will be given to St Vincent-born Kevin Lyttle.
