This year’s 52nd Grammy Awards will air on Sunday, January 31. All of music’s finest will be in attendance, presenting and performing. In my opinion, this year’s most interesting road to the Grammys has to be Beyoncé. Beyoncé already an accomplished artist, has performed for President Obama, already has a dozen Grammys under her belt, has sold out concert arenas the world over and was just named Billboard’s Artist of the Decade. However, despite these accomplishments, the most revered Grammy awards, Album of the Year and Record of the Year, has continually eluded B. Will this year be the year of the B?
Beyoncé is leading the pack with an astounding ten nominations including the two elusive categories. “Halo” is up for Record of the Year and “I Am…Sasha Fierce” for Album of the Year. I think in the Album of the Year category, this is Beyonce’s year. Her album sales were phenomenal, her concerts were sold out and musically the album is “Fierce”. Unfortunately, “Halo” was nominated for Record of the Year instead of “Single Ladies” (nominated for song of the year). I think this was a Grammy misstep and may end up costing B the Record of the Year….again.
Catch Beyoncé on 60 Minutes this Sunday at 7pm EST and, of course, at the 52nd Grammy Awards show live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 8pmEST. Also, check her out featured this month in February’s issue of Allure Magazine.
Good luck Sasha Fierce, I’ll be watching!!!
