The 20th staging of Reggae Sumfest, the world’s greatest reggae show got underway with Dancehall Night on Thursday July 19 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Some of the highlights included Lady Saw being honored as the “Dancehalll Queen”, a very electrifying performance from Khago, I-Octane, and Popcaan. There were also a few “dynamic duos” including Cham performIng with his wife (Ophelia?) and surprise guest Richie Stephens. Kiprich serenaded a voluptuous fan from Texas while Konshens had girls bubbling, many of them!
Di girls dem shuga, Beenie Man closed out the nightout with a medley of his most popular songs. I would be remiss to not mention that the abence of the likes of a Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal and Mavado was reflected in the crowd size. All in all though the younger upcoming artists are holding their own! Kudos to Romain Virgo for his performance on Dancehall Night.
