International Superstar and legendary music Icon Patti LaBelle, will make a special appearance at the Jamaica Epicurean Escape, being held on December 1 and 2 at Richmond Estate.

LaBelle widely regarded as the queen of rock & soul music has sold over 50 million records worldwide. Her achievements have been recognized by her induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Apollo Hall of Fame, the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame as well as the World Music Awards presenting her with the prestigious Legend Award.

LaBelle received acclaim for many of her songs, including “Lady Marmalade,” “When You Talk About Love,” and “New Attitude.” She began her career as part of the Ordettes in 1959, who became The Bluebelles in 1961. She began her solo career in 1978.

LaBelle was diagnosed with diabetes12 years ago. Since then, she has become a spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association, and published three best-selling cookbooks, LaBelle Cuisine: Recipes to Sing About,Patti LaBelle’sLite Cuisine, and Recipes for the Good Lifetargeted at people with diabetes, containing low-sugar and low-fat recipes.

Known affectionately in the food world as Miss Patti she has always been a whiz in the kitchen, appearing on such programs as Oprah and The Martha Stewart Show.

Her hit “Lady Marmalade” which peaked at the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts twice: in 1975 and then 26 years later in 2001, inspired a signature line of healthy barbequesauces, marinades and hot saucescalled Lady Marmalade.  Miss Patti’s input is integral in the development and final taste of the sauces which are made with all natural ingredients..

Patti LaBelle’s appearance at the Jamaica Epicurean Escape will feature her in two areas.  She is schedule to do a performance at the event’s after-party on Saturday December 1 in the Luxury lounge.  Patrons in this area will be treated to some of her hits.  She will also be appearing on the main stage on Sunday December 2, where she will attend a cooking demonstration with one of Jamaica’s Top Chefs who will have created a unique Jamaican recipe utilizing one or more of the Lady Marmalade sauces.
