The Adidas Grand Prix  went on through the storm and the rain.  The inclement weather definitely caused complications.  Unfortunately, Jamaican American runner Sanya Richards-Ross withdrew from the race this year.  Her agent Sharon Richards issued this statement:“Sanya withdrew because her foot wasn’t feeling strong after practice yesterday. One of the fears her physio has is the over-compensation could lead to bigger issues, and we all want to see Sanya ready for the US nationals later this year.”

Sanya issued a personal statement to the fans  and media:
“It’s so hard to have to miss out on competitions. I love to race and enjoy the NY meet so much. I hated I wasn’t able to race for the fans today but had to make the right decision and will be back, healthy and strong soon.”

The slippery track surely wouldn’t have helped her foot either.  Sanya was sorely missed as she won the Women’s 200 meters with 22.09 at last years meet.  This would have been her season debut.

The super star runner tweeted:

“As an athlete it’s always difficult to know when to push it and when to be patient. It’s a long season and I want to be ready for Worlds.

Sanya looked like she was ready to run at Wednesdays press conference however we all respect her decision.  Hopefully we will see her next year!
