JUNE 24  – Legislative Week Briefing

Participants will be provided information on the week’s agenda, including relevant talking points, and issue briefs.
JUNE 25 – ‘Accessing Census Data’  Workshop by US Census 
                   @Online Webinar
                    11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Participants will learn how to access census data such as Caribbean American demographic information. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY JUNE 18


JUNE 26-   Faith-based Leaders Dialogue on Community Development
                    @ Organization of American States

The opportunities for faith-based organizations to receive funding for social and community development programs will be explored through speakers from Faith based partnership offices in the US Federal government as well as with speakers from the development assistance community. June 26 – Update on Impact of New Trademark & Patent Rules
                  @ Patent and Trademark Office

Implications of the new laws for filing of trademarks and patents will be discussed as it pertains to small businesses.
JUNE 26 –  Update on Caribbean Growth Forum
                   @ Inter-American Development Bank

The Caribbean Growth Forum (CGF) is a joint initiative by the Compete Caribbean Program, the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, and the Caribbean Development Bank. It is supported by the Canadian International Development Agency, the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development, CARICOM Secretariat, and the University of the West Indies.
Senior Executives from the IDB will report on the just completed Caribbean Growth Forum (taking place June 24-25) in Barbados.  Updates will be provided on funding opportunities for diaspora investment in the Caribbean region.  PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY JUNE 21
JUNE 27 –  15th Annual Legislative Forum/Advocacy Day

@ Capitol Hill

                     9:00 am _ 5:30 pm
Congresswoman Barbara Lee, Congresswoman Yvette Clarke and other Caribbean American elected officials will bring their message regarding work underway in the areas of International Trade, Small Business, the Affordable Health Care Act and Immigration Reform.
The anticipated outcome of the participatory forum will be a commitment by interested organizations to partner under a shared vision to execute action and advocacy. PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED BY JUNE 21
JUNE 28 –   Caribbean American Business Leaders Roundtable: 
                    Doing Biz with the Federal Government
                     @ US Department of Commerce
                     10:00 am – 12:00 pm
Aimed at Small Business owners doing or preparing to do business with state and federal government.  High level officials of the Minority Business Development Agency and the Economic Development Agency will provide information on funding opportunities for small businesses including community development empowerment zones.  Space is Limited.

JUNE 28     –  Youth Leadership Forum 

@ Inter-American Development Bank

1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

Aimed at young professionals or graduate students interested in careers in international development, and/or public policy.  Updates on development programs for youth in the Caribbean will be provided.
