Love and Hip Hop Atlanta Premiere Party

Last night, Atlanta tastemakers came out for the invite-only private screening of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.   The hit reality series began in New York but executive producer Mona Scott Young knew that Atlanta was the perfect place to franchise the hit VH1 series.   Although the rain washed out the red carpet, this didn’t damper the festivities one bit  (only Frank Ski “step and repeat” – how apropos!)

V-103’s Egypt hosted the event at Atlanta hot spot Frank Ski’s Restaurant as the backdrop for Atlanta’s “who’s who” to meet and greet the virtually unknown cast of “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta”.  Although some of the cast members expressed a bit of nervousness about their impending fame most were very excited about the major change that is about to take place in their lives.

After watching the first episode last night, I predict this show will be another major success for VH1 and Monami Productions!  Baby mama drama, fledgling music careers, lies, sex, and Lil Scrappy’s mother, “Mama Dee” instantly makes this show “must see TV”.  Yes, indeed fame is on the horizon for these castmates!

A very special shout out to Trinidadian Karlie Redd holding it down for the Caribbean massive — we luv dat!  RRRRRRRRah!

RCS Sidebar:  This is reality TV and set in Atlanta so you know the night was not without DRAMA!  During the cast Q&A, a middle-aged, self-professed Christian woman asked if there were any transgenders in the cast?  Lawd!!!  One castmate, Joseline, took offense to the question (hmm wonder why?).  Executive producer Mona Scott Young assured the woman that Joseline was 100% woman because she had seen her disrobed.  This did not satisfy this lady.  She went on to say (I want to keep this PG) that if Mona had not eaten the “cookie” then Mona couldn’t be 100% certain. Mona replied “I wasn’t hungry!”.   LOL.

Love and Hip Hop Atlanta premieres on VH1 on Monday, June 18 at 8pm EST.

FROM VH1:  The cast of the show includes Stevie J, a three-time Grammy Award-Winning producer who has worked with artists such as Diddy, Jay-Z and Mariah Carey, Stevie’s longtime girlfriend Mimi Faust, and a fiery up-and-coming Latina rapper named Joseline.

Also featured are Lil Scrappy, best known for his 2006 smash hit, “Money in the Bank,” his girlfriend Erica Dixon, and his mother, a former hustler known as “Momma Dee.”

The hometown hero, Atlanta rapper Rasheeda, is still searching for that big hit after years in the hip hop game, but she’s constantly at odds with her manager Kirk Frost — who also happens to be her husband. Rounding out the cast are the talented songbird K.Michelle, and Trinidadian R&B singer Karlie Redd.
