The much anticipated Oprah interview of Barbados’ very own superstar Rihanna aired last night. Although many of us had already seen clips of a teary eyed Rihanna’s appearance on Oprah’s Next Chapter, it was still shocking to hear Rihanna in her own words state that she still loves Chris Brown (no judgment). Not only does she still love Chris Brown, she hangs out with him on occasion and still gets a funny feeling (ladies, you know the kind of feeling when you run into your ex, its unsettling) and most surprising, she has forgiven him.
“Nobody’s going to say he needs help,” “Everybody’s going to say he’s a monster without looking at the source … and I was more concerned about him,” she said. “I lost my best friend. Everything I knew switched, switched in a night and I couldn’t control that. It’s not easy for me to understand or interpret, and it’s not easy to interpret on camera, not with the world watching.”
Wow, Rihanna was beaten up by her boyfriend and was more concerned about him! Now that’s love….. I think Rihanna has grown as an artist and also as a young woman and I wish her all the best going forward. She still has a lot of growth but that’s what life is about…living and learning.
I’m gonna have to call Oprah about adding OWN to basic cable cuz a sista missed this one!!
RCS Sidebar: Some people felt the interview was a publicity ploy to clean up party girl Rihanna’s image. I don’t believe that. To me, she came across sincere and truthful. And, please give her a break on this “too much partying”. She’s a 23 year old single, rich, famous. popstar without children — when would be a better time for her to be a party girl???
