Hot on the heels of the Trinidad Carnival festival weekend, Caribbean entertainment brand Antilia has joined forces with Maserati for the Manhattan Grand Launch of luxury social network ELEQT.

The glitzy partnership will promote one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after cultural festivals through an explosive fusion of exotic Carnival fashions and bespoke luxury designer items, on the first day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Fall 2013 Collections, in New York.

The red carpet, invitation-only gala took place Thursday, February 7, at the new state-of-the-art Maserati of Manhattan location in Tribeca.

The brand’s eagerly awaited first standalone showroom in the United States will come alive this winter as The ela Design Company and leading Trinidadian Carnival band TRIBE, together with a number of high end international designer brands, deliver an explosive preview of the Carnival weekend’s vibrant activities to a discerning group of jet setters and fashion trendsetters.

“In addition to promoting the vibrance of Caribbean culture and the warmth of its people, this unique event also showcases the premium potential of Carnival, inspired by the growing number of seasonal VIP events and exclusive Carnival band offerings that will no doubt appeal to the elite international traveler,” asserted Simon Khan, CEO, Antilia.

Participating fashion brands include Cantamessa Jewels – elite Italian jewelry, and Mel Boteri, unique luxury handbags and accessories. Both brands will preview their latest collections at the event.

Additionally, Bellucci Napoli has promised to raffle a custom-tailored luxury shirt. The company, a specialist in bespoke luxury, will present its master tailor to measure the winner at the event.

ELEQT is a brand new social network for the luxury lifestyle, launched early last year in London and registering more than 150,000 members from more than 200 countries. The company is part of the Quintessentially Group, a world leader in luxury services.

The fast-growing lifestyle brand, whose founders reside on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curaçao, debuted its first US event last October in collaboration with Antilia and Ferrari of Long Island. The event was supported by Saint Barth Properties which offered access to an exclusive range of upscale Caribbean villa accommodations.

Having teased our attendees with a taste of the Caribbean last October, we again sought the assistance of Antilia to create an even more memorable and distinctly Caribbean experience at our official Manhattan launch for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week,” commented Ruud Smeets, Chief Executive Officer, ELEQT.

Smeets, former General Manager, Yahoo! Europe, declared: “We admire the vibrant, colorful and fashionable nature of the Caribbean Carnival and are excited at the opportunity to feature these exotic costumes alongside fashions from our roster of leading high-end designers, and to ultimately share this well-kept secret with our elite network of high net worth individuals, jet setters and fashion influencers.”

Among the Carnival designs being showcased, the ela-designed Kallimini costume for TRIBE Carnival Band’s 2013 presentation “Butterflies, Beasts and Bacchanal” is expected to take the spotlight.

“A global fashion trend has descended upon Trinidad Carnival. Fashion is no longer an add-on to the festival experience, but rather has become a critical component to the business of Carnival,” noted leading Trinidadian make-up artist Nina Alcantara of The ela Design Company. “What’s most exciting to us is that this Thursday we get to turn the tables. We’re going to show the world what kind of impact our style-forward, culture-rich festival can have on the global fashion industry.”

In addition to the range of authentic Carnival costumes on display, ela will unveil their now sold-out 2013 collection of ‘Monday Wear’ for individuals who wish to make a bold fashion statement on the first day of Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival.

The Caribbean-themed gala, supported by the Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA), will feature a top shelf open bar, including Charles Heidsieck champagne, Alacran 100% blue agave tequila, The Macallan single malt, Brugal rum, Forever Young wines and Heineken beer.

The event is to be followed by an exclusive after-party at the Tribeca Grand Hotel.
