McDonough, GA, June 10, 2013 – Caribbean Association of Georgia, Inc. will be celebrating and commemorating National Caribbean American Heritage Month by, hosting the Atlanta Caribbean Cultural Festival on Saturday, June 22, 2013 from 1 pm to 8 pm. This 4th annual event will be held at the McDonough Square, located in McDonough, Georgia. Formerly, known as the Atlanta Caribbean Spring Festival, this well anticipated celebration is a favorite occurrence annually amongst it attendees.

The Atlanta Caribbean Cultural Festival will provide a family friendly event geared toward: celebrating the many contributions made by Caribbean Americans; educating and exposing the community to a diverse and rich range of cultural expressions; celebrating the diverse culture; invigorating community spirit; enhancing the quality of life in the community; increasing tourism, providing a quality, free, and entertaining event, while stimulating the local economy.

There will be entertainment and fun for all age groups. Food vendors will be on hand to satisfy the cravings of the pallet. A major feature of the event is the talent showcase which promotes local Caribbean talent ranging from young to old. These performances include singing, dancing, mocko jumbie stilt performers, instrumental performances, spoken words etc. The kid’s fun zone has always been a winner for children and parents alike. It will comprise of inflatables, face painting, caricature art and a variety of contests. The Caribbean Festival will boasts various vendors; contests; prizes; free medical screening; free dental exams; Caribbean cultural dancers; fashion show and more. CAG will reward $500 college scholarships to two qualified and deserving students. Free parking will be available in the parking deck and parking lots behind the court. DJ Fire Armz of WRFG 89.3 FM will provide his special blend of music. Attendees are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals that will be donated to orphanages in the Caribbean and homeless children in Georgia.

In 2006, President Bush signed the first Proclamation designating June as the Caribbean American Heritage Month. This annual resolution has recently been issued by President Obama and marks the 8th year of this commemoration.
