Atlanta Caribbean Carnival is Mas and Music!

Each year during Memorial Day Weekend, the City of Atlanta transforms into the City of Caribbean Carnival!  This year as the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Bandleaders Association (ACCBA) welcomes one and all to an all-encompassing celebration of Caribbean culture,  they also commemorate the 25th Anniversary of Atlanta Caribbean Carnival!  ACCBA invites the public to fully immerse themselves and partake in all that Atlanta Caribbean Carnival has to offer, as we once again return to Downtown Atlanta on Saturday, May 25, 2013.

There are many events leading up to Carnival Day including the annual ‘Pan in the City’ which takes place this weekend on Saturday, May 4..  If you love steel pan music this is the event for you!

Atlanta Children’s Carnival will be held one week prior to the Atlanta Carnival on Saturday, May 18 and the Grand Marshals will be none other than The Sh’Boss Boys. You may remember them from their performance on ‘America’s Got Talent’ (see below).

By the way, on the subject of Grand Marshals this year’s Grand Marshals for Atlanta Caribbean Carnival will be Dwight Eubanks of ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’  (is Dwight even on that show anymore??) and Ms. Universe Bahamas Celeste Marshall.

There’s also a J’Ouvert (Friday, May 24), King and Queen Show (Thurs, May 23) and a ‘Peach Splash’ (Sun. May 26) concert featuring Machel Montano and Mr. Vegas!

Patricia Henry, the long-standing President of ACCBA tells me there will be several reality shows taping, lots of celebrities on hand and some surprises!  SSSHHH…  I can’t tell you everything yet but I can tell you that #Bahamas40ATL is reality show based out of The Bahamas and will be taping LIVE at Atlanta Carnival to kick-off celebrations for the Bahamas’ 40th Year of Independence.

There are loads and loads of events, far too many to cover here so stay up-to-date by checking in regularly at AtlantaCarnival.org
