Barbados (my other ancestral home!) will be rocking with reggae this week when the 2013 Digicel Barbados Reggae Festival brings Bounty Killer, Shaggy, Elephant Man Junior Reid and Taurus Riley to island for the event, which runs April 21 through April 28.
Other performers include Admiral Tibet, Yellow Man, Pinchers, Aidonia, Coco Tea, Busy Signal and Elephant Man, according to the Barbados Tourism Authority.
This edition of the nine-year old festival features a Reggae Beach Party at Brandon’s Beach, Spring Garden; Vintage Reggae Show & Dance at 3Ws Theater, Kensington Oval; and the Reggae Party Cruise, marking Tarrus Riley’s birthday aboard The Jolly Roger, which is docked at Cailisle House featuring Deejays Jon Doe & Assassin, Dooley Unruley, Peter Coppin & Monsta Piece Federation.
Reggae on the Hill at Farley Hill National Park , featuring Shaggy, closes out th festival on April 28.
