YES! The Chicago Department Superintendent publicly being judge and jury is RECKLESS. As a police department, you should hold a press conference to share facts not your opinions. Raising questions about Jussie Smollett’s intent and sharing your personal opinion serves to undermine Jussie’s chance of a fair trial.

If you’re the Chicago PD you should understand and, in fact, promulgate the basic legal precept of “innocent until proven guilty” in a court of law, not the court of public opinion!

“How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile? How can an individual who’s been embraced by the city of Chicago turn around and slap everyone in this city in the face by making these false claims?” ~Eddie Johnson, Chicago Police Superintendent

All victims deserve to have their stories believed. If Smollett is lying, let the judicial system vet it out. How TF can Jussie get a fair and objective day in court after the Superintendent of the Chicago P.D. has already publicly shamed and condemned him?

Whether you believe Jussie is innocent or you believe he committed a hoax, he’s still deserving of fair and objective trial.
