Caribbean American (Guyana) film and television director/producer Roger Bobb sat down with Kathleen Bertrand of the BronzeLens Film Festival to discuss the sequel to his TV One original production “Girlfriend’s Getaway”.
Girlfriend’s Getaway 2 will see Garcelle Beauvais, Terri J. Vaughn, Essence Atkins and Malinda Williams reprise their comedic roles. Filmed in Puerto Rico, the sequel is about four girlfriends who travel for a destination wedding, only to face chaos when a simple affair turns into extravagant, expensive nuptials. (the first one was filmed in Trinidad).
I love that Roger Bobb is not only taking advantage of tax incentives offered by some islands in the Caribbean, but also aids the local economy while filming there. At the same time, this brings additional exposure to the beautiful islands of the Caribbean. This is why it is important to have diversity in filmmaking.
