On Monday, December 10th, Okayplayer hosted its 7th Annual Holiday Jam. The highly anticipated event took place at Brooklyn Bowl and didn’t disappoint. The show featured performances by The Roots, Valerie June, Reggie Watts, Sufjan Stevens, Raekwon, Rahzel, J. Period (on DJ duties), Mozaic Flow, Donn T, Gizmo, Bilal,Dice Raw, Addis Pablo, Adrian Younge, and Big Daddy Kane. The affair was hosted by comedian Hannibal Buress.
Alas, this is a Caribbean website and, my appearance at this event was all about my peeps! This year’s Caribbean Okayplayer contingency included Bunji Garlin, Christopher Ellis, and Mr. Vegas!!!
The consistently “best dressed’ dancehall artist came to Brooklyn to bless the audience with a special performance of his timeless hit ‘Heads High”. Bunji Garlin fresh off his Soul Train Award for Best Caribbean Performance gave a rousing performance of “Differentology” with his equally talented soca songstress Fay-Ann Lyons doing a likkle background!
Shout out to Marie Driven for the invite!
