Tuff Gong International, in partnership with Caroline Records, has announced the 2015 re-release of a number of rare albums from its distribution catalog. The albums feature classic performances from some of the best loved artists in reggae music including Sanchez, Tyrone Taylor, Nadine Sutherland, and Dillinger. Most have been out of print for more than two decades, and none have been available digitally.

In addition to the musical releases, Tuff Gong International will digitally release So Much Things to Say, a rare thirty-five minute interview with Bob Marley from 1973, by legendary Jamaican DJ and journalist Neville Willoughby. The interview was recorded in Jamaica upon Marley’s return from the Burnin’ album tour in the U.S. and UK. The recording, combined with background tracks, has been digitally remastered and re-edited by Marley’s wife, Rita, and their daughter, Cedella Marley.

As demand for rare, vintage reggae music continues to grow, twelve albums from the archives will be released over the coming months. All of the albums have been digitally remastered from the original studio tapes, stored in a vault at Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica. The majority of this material was released originally on LP and cassette:

BOB MARLEY – SO MUCH THINGS TO SAY

NADINE SUTHERLAND – UNTIL

TYRONE TAYLOR – TOTALLY TYRONE

TYRONE TAYLOR – COTTAGE IN NEGRIL

STANLEY AND THE TURBINES – BROWN GAL

SANCHEZ – 20 GREATEST HITS

DILLINGER – RAPPING ON THE BUS

DILLINGER – THE BEST OF…

The first from the series, Bob Marley Interviews: So Much Things to Say, is available on iTunes today in commemoration of Bob Marley’s 70th birthday on February 6th, and on cd and vinyl later this year.

The final four titles will be Tuff Gong International compilation albums, which include tracks from various artists including Beenie Man, Frankie Paul and Grindsman, amongst a number of others, will also be released.

“We are excited to share with the world, the music we worked so hard to produce at our father’s studio,” said Tuff Gong CEO, Cedella Marley. “As a Jamaican, I am proud to see how influential our music is globally, and know there will be a great appreciation for the history.”

Tuff Gong International will continue to release new music from some of Jamaica’s hottest up and coming talent including the soundtrack from the acclaimed indie film, Destiny. The film has broken box office records in Jamaica and is scheduled for international release later this year. The soundtrack includes performances by Spice, Tifa, and Christopher Martin.
