Sponsor Accenture Drops Tiger Woods

Amid Tiger Woods’ growing scandal, management consulting firm Accenture became the first major sponsor to completely drop Tiger Woods.  On their website Accenture stated  “given the circumstances of the last two weeks … the company has determined that he is no longer the right representative for its advertising.”   Gillette, another major Tiger Woods sponsor, has decided to “limit” Tiger’s role.   Tiger reportedly earns $25MM annually in golfing revenues and $90MM in sponsorship.   If  more sponsors begin to follow suit, Tiger will definitely suffer huge financial losses.  The ad displayed here was one of the Accenture ads…how prophetic!

Tiger Woods announced over the weekend via his website that he would be taking a leave of absence from his much beloved sport of golf.  “After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father and person,”  .  Also, on his website was his first use of the word “infidelity” .   Previously, Tiger used the word “‘transgression”.

Many have asked my opinion on this subject and I have tried to  stay out of this court of public opinion.   But since you keep asking for my opinion, here it is.   Its quite unfortunate that such a successful athlete has found himself in such a quagmire.  Tiger is not infallible, he is human and subject to human “transgressions”.   Many have come forward to condemn Tiger.  Tiger has clearly made poor choices and has violated the sanctity of his marriage. That being said, “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.  And, as for the mistresses involved, why come forward now?   You and the entire free world knew that Tiger was married yet you made the decision to carry on an illicit affair.  These women give womanhood a bad name.  They are just as much at fault.   We all must take responsibility for our actions.  And, by the way, if you want to be a mistress, learn the rules.   Take the money, the fun, and keep it moving — no need for public disclosure!  For crying out load, isn’t a mistress supposed to be the other woman who is kept and in return she is discreet?   GET A LIFE!

I hope Tiger can recover from this scandal and I wish him all the best.  However, If he and his wife cannot reconcile their differences, do you think Tiger might go black??
