Jamaican dancehall recording superstar Shaggy fresh off receiving the key to the City of Miami appeared on New York City’s WPIX this morning to “Celebrate the Caribbean”.

This year marks the 50th year of Independence for the Caribbean’s two largest islands:  Jamaica and Trinidad.  To commemorate and celebrate these momentous occasions many festivities are taking place throughout the Caribbean Diaspora.

One event in particular will be The Adidas Jamboree concert at Randall’s Island in New York City.  Shaggy, aka Mr. Boombastic, will take the stage along with Shabba Ranks, Richie Stephens and Faye-Ann Lyons.

Shaggy has tirelessly repped for Jamaica and the Caribbean both musically and philanthropically.  I am ecstatic to see that Shaggy’s contributions have earned him the opportunity to share Caribbean culture for the world to see.  I think I am going to nickname Shaggy the ‘Caribbean Ambassador‘ (afterall Reggae Ambassador is too limiting for a Grammy-Award winning artist like Shaggy!)
