Upcoming Elections Force Rescheduling – Some Artists Lost as a Result

GRAMMY nominee Stephen Marley, pop artiste Ne-Yo, 80s songstress Deniece Williams, and soca’s first couple Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons are casualties of the rescheduled Shaggy & Friends charity concert now set for Saturday, January 7 on the lawns of Jamaica House.

The event, originally set for December 30, fell victim to the announcement of the December 29 general election.

The organisers note that singer Lauryn Hill still tops the bill and British-born reggae singer Maxi Priest has been added to the line-up.

The other acts confirmed are Romain Virgo, Coco Tea, Half Pint, Tami Chynn and Wayne Marshall, Chino and Assassin.

Shaggy and Friends, the charity concert staged by the Shaggy Make A Difference Foundation, is seeing its third staging. The concert raises funds for the Bustamante Hospital for Children in St Andrew.

This year the proceeds from the show have been earmarked to go towards the construction of a 15-bed intensive care cardiac unit at the hospital.

The past two staging of the concert have seen performances from the likes of Machel Montano, Macy Gray, II Men and Joe.
