Today, the first-ever online campaign to bring sneak previews of Universal Pictures’ “Battleship” to 10 U.S. military bases. This film marks Rihanna’s debut in a major Hollywood film and I’m sure the men on these military bases will be happy Riri in “action”.  The epic-scale action-adventure opens in theaters across the country on May 18.  This

To join the “Battle of the Bases” campaign, friends and family may choose a military base that is near or special to them by voting online now at http://eventful.com/battleship. The 10 military bases that receive the highest online vote tally by May 8th will receive an advance screening of “Battleship” at a theater near the base between May 15 and May 17. Nearly 300 military bases nationwide have the chance to make the top 10.

In Summer 2012, the battle for Earth begins at sea.  Peter Berg (Hancock, The Kingdom, Friday Night Lights) directs and produces “Battleship,” an epic-scale action-adventure that unfolds across the seas, in the skies and over land as our planet fights for survival against a superior force.  The film stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna, Brooklyn Decker, Tadanobu Asano and Liam Neeson.

“These early screenings of ‘Battleship’ allow Universal an opportunity to thank our active duty and reserve service members and their families for their constant sacrifices,” said Josh Goldstine, President of Theatrical Marketing, Universal Pictures.  “The spirit of the film is one of assembling the best of the best for a daunting, shared mission.  We hope that by bringing together our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and coast guardsmen with their families, they may enjoy a night out at the movies.”

Voting is easy through Eventful’s “Demand it!”® service, which empowers fans to bring films and live entertainment to their communities while gaining access to exclusive content, pre-sales, and other unique promotional opportunities.

“We’re gratified to work with Universal Pictures to use the power of social media to reward our service members with a chance to see one of the hottest action films of the summer,” said Jordan Glazier, CEO Eventful.

While Eventful has used Demand it! engagement to spark numerous, successful online screening campaigns, this is the first time the company is teaming up with a film studio to arrange showings for military bases.

Eventful will promote the screenings in communities around the winning military bases.  Tickets will be issued by Eventful to all RSVP subscribers to the screenings on a first come, first-served basis (with ticket availability determined by Universal and Eventful in advance).

Along with engaging voters, the five-week campaign is intended to help build awareness about “Battleship” and drive views of its action-packed trailer. For additional information on “Battleship,” check out http://www.battleshipmovie.com/.
