During Miami Broward Carnival 2013, the Red Carpet Shelley team caught up with Mr. ‘Bruk it Down’ himself dancehall superstar Mr. Vegas.  Mr. Vegas recently dropped Bruk it Down 2.0 and remains busy recording, touring and, of course, tweeting!

Working with Beyonce

On working with Beyonce, Mr. Vegas said it was “major” and reflected on their similar work ethic and how she reminded him of himself when it comes to being a “perfectionist”

“It was like someone who knows what they’re doing and that’s like myself, sometimes always trying to get it right” ~Mr. Vegas

Sagging Reggae Record Sales

On the subject of sagging record sales, Mr. Vegas offers his insights:

“People can download the album, people can find it on YouTube, without having to pay for it so there’s a lot of things that come into play … All of us just have to go back to the drawing board and see what is missing because people love the music, people love dancehall music, people love reggae music. …

It can’t just be Shaggy, it can’t be just Mr. Vegas.  We have to make sure that in the base market, we are playing these songs. … We have to make sure in the base market that we are promoting good music in the base market because that is how people get to take onto the music internationally”

Well said Mr. Vegas!  I wish I would have asked him one simple question, why are these songs not being promoted in the base market i.e. Jamaica?  I’m not sure why but I hope reggae music sales sees a return to its former glory very soon!

Mr. Vegas is also working on producing his very own reality show Bruk It Down In Reality  The show will chronicle the life dancehall queens. Although the show is the very early planning stages, auditions are reportedly scheduled all over the world (starting with New York, Miami and Los Angeles).  The top 12 contestants will get a chance to live in a house with Mr. Vegas acting as their mentor.  Not sure how he is going to mentor on being a dancehall queen??!!  I would publicly like to advise Mr. Vegas that I am available to be a judge, mentor or dancehall queen! LOL…..Or, perhaps Granny would like to compete. (see video below)

RCS SIDEBAR:  I’m still waiting on a straight answer from Mr. Vegas on why man a “gyallis” but a woman is a “hoe”!!!!  IJS..
