On Monday, June 4, 2012 Shaggy’s premier reggae fusion label, Ranch Entertainment, Inc., officially launched complete with a ‘boomtastic’ celebration further expanding this hot, new musical genre. With headquarters in both New York City and Jamaica, Ranch Entertainment is the brainchild of reggae artist Orville “Shaggy” Burrell.
For Jamaican-born Burrell, a Grammy-winning diamond-selling artist, the new label is an opportunity to use his extensive knowledge of the industry to catapult Jamaican artists into the musical mainstream.
Sharing a common vision of expanding reggae fusion and furthering global appreciation of the genre, Burrell and his team formed Ranch Entertainment after departing Big Yard Music Group. The label’s name derives from ‘The Ranch,’ Burrell’s long-time recording studio in New York City, where all of his international blockbuster and Billboard chart-topping hits were conceived and created. As the music industry continues to pose hurdles and challenges to the success of rising stars, the mission of Ranch Entertainment is to develop and facilitate innovative approaches for up and coming artists to excel in the current market. Their internationally-known affiliate producers includes Anthony “CD” Kelly, Teflon The Producer formerly of Ruff Ryders, Jerry Wonder, Christopher Birch, Stephen “Di Genius” McGregor, and Costi Ioniţă of Romania.
