The Pan African Film Festival closed on a high note with Director Amma Asante’s ‘Belle’ and starring actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw on hand for an in-depth look at the historical implications of the movie.
‘Belle’ is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizabeth Belle, the mixed-race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield and his wife, Belle’s lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing.
Belle is now available for digital download and via DVD. Kudos to the Pan African Film Festival organizers for another successful year and special thanks to Margaret over at iWonder Media!
