Miami Broward One Carnival wrapped up last week. As usual, Miami Carnival delivered! There was a full display of mas and music as masquerade bands participated in a two mile street parade within Sun Life Stadium. Although, many would love to see the parade route return to the streets of Miami Gardens, it didn’t seem to keep away carnival goers. The crowd was thick and it appeared that fun was had by all.
Over 20 masquerade bands competed for Band of the Year bragging rights. Costumes were judged on visual impact, creativity, authenticity, clarity of theme, best use of color and presentation. This year’s costumes showcased a spectacular riotous blend of colors, pageantry and fantasy.
Following the parade, there was a full concert featuring the 2013 Soca Monarch & Road March King Superblue and some of Soca and Chutney heavyweight singers and bands.
