The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series, sponsored by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, has been going strong for over 30 years and does not seem to be losing any steam!
The Calypson king of the world and living legend Sparrow opened the show, followed by a high energy, spirited performance from Kes the Band. This was my first time seeing Kes and I must say I was VERY impressed. The showmanship and stage presence of this group was amazing. Lead singer, Kees Dieffenthaller, has a very soulful sound and a gives an energetic, whimsical performance. Last but not least was the royal family of reggae Morgan Heritage. They gave the reggae roots lovers in the crowd just what we needed.
