Laurence & Chico’s Spring/Summer 19 line was showcased at Pier 60 in New York this season. I was very anxious about attending this show. I have never seen their clothing before and decided to look at their website. My jaw dropped with the all baubles, beads and pearls from the previous collection. I just knew that the show would be something very memorable from viewing the earlier season’s apparel and it was! The eclectic design duo pushed the elevator to the Penthouse floor with this collection, because it was at and over the top and I loved every minute of it! J. Alexander known to the world as Miss J., runway coach and television personality from America’s Next Top Model, was the host of this extravaganza. Miss J. also donned a gown adorned with all sort of funky fandangles in which he strutted down the runway in also.

The show took you back to the balls that have gone on in the gay community for years in which everyone wears their fiercest outfit and vogues to the finish to see who is best. Well, I got all of that in this show and then some. It was festive, engaging in dance and burst of bright and bold colors from the first few looks that came down the runway to the last. It put you in the mood to party and Mardi Gras. The theme that stood out to me was the wonderful use of tulle. Tulle is very girly and flirty. It was layered, it was ruffled and bustled and beautiful. Print and texture was the other strikingly noticeable thing about this fashion brigade. Headphones and cute mini clutches in an array of colors as well, made each look complete. The use of neon with primary colors was a great touch and a beautiful way to make the outfit stand out.

Make no mistake when wearing Laurence & Chico you will command the attention of the room so you better be ready! This was the first Laurence &Chico show that I have attended, but I hope it will not be my last because it was just amazing! They gave us what fashion is all about being creative and thinking outside of the box. Though the collection is very avant garde there are several wearable pieces such as the short tweed jacket and tween knee length skirt which was one of my favorite looks.
