New Initiative Revitalize NOW! Calls for Volunteers in St. Thomas USVI

Sen. Dwayne M. DeGraff’s office has joined forces in support of Revitalize NOW! – a St. Thomas Enterprise Zone initiative. He urges residents to volunteer to assist with the planned cleanup efforts.

The event will take place from Monday, March 4 through Sunday, March 10, and is a collaborative effort lead by Community Action NOW! in partnership with Oakwood University, Savaneros United NOW (SUN), Long Path Garden Street Association and Community Center Inc., and We From UpStreet Inc.

Other community partners include All Hands & Hearts Smart Response, American Red Cross of the Virgin Islands, Sankofa Saturdays, Community RESTORE Inc, Environmental Association of St. Thomas-St. John (E.A.S.T.), Redlight Distrikt, RedCarpetShelley.com, Virgin Islands Worldwide, Ultimate Legacy Carnival Troupe Inc, StarTime Promotions Inc, Office of the Governor of the USVI, members of the 33rd Legislature of the USVI, USVI Economic Development Authority, USVI Department of Sports, Parks and Recreation, among many others.

Oakwood University mission students will join up in a week-long revitalization effort focusing on the Upstreet, Garden Street, Savanne and Downstreet communities. Following is a list of planned activities, that will be held from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., each day:

Monday, March 4 – Meet at the Long Path Garden Street Association Community Center. At 10 a.m., Revitalize NOW! will host an event opening and historical background of the historic communities.

Tuesday, March 5 – Meet at the Long Path Garden Street Association Community Center.

Wednesday, March 6 – Meet at the Bungalow at the Old Market

Thursday, March 7 – Meet at the building adjacent to the Lionel Roberts Stadium Fish market. It will end at 5 p.m. on this day.

Friday, March 8 – Meet at the Bungalow at the Old Market Square from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Then meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Jarvis Museum located on Pollyberg Hill for “A Night of Spiritual Healing.”

Saturday, March 9 – Meet at the “Blyden” Building, which is attached to Rothschild Francis Rostrum just north of Bungalow (Please support the local vendors on this day).

Sunday, March, 10 – Meet at the Romeo Malone Community Center. Activities will end at 4 p.m. on this day.
