Dr. Conrad Murray, the Caribbean-born doctor who served prison time for his role in the death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was in carnival mode yesterday as the annual event ended in Trinidad. Murray, who was born in Grenada but raised in Trinidad, traveled with his daughter Chanel, son Che and fiancee Nicole Alvarez, to play mas with the band, Tribe/Bliss in T&T.

The infamous doctor crossed the stage yesterday with the band at the Socadrome according to C News Trinidad.

Murray, 61, told the Express Newspaper he is a lover of Carnival and returns every year to Trinidad to celebrate although he lived in the U.S.

But this year’s carnival marked his first return since his incarceration in 2011 after a jury found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Jackson, his former patient. “It’s always a pleasure to come home…I’m happy to be home,” Murray told the Express. “We’re here on Carnival holidays and to have a good time.” Murray says he is in Trinidad for two weeks. Murray, a cardiologist, was hired by Jackson as his personal physician when the latter was preparing for his 2009 concert tour. Jackson died in June 2009 of a prescription drug overdose.

Murray was charged after lethal levels of the anaesthetic propofol were found in Jackson’s system. He was released from a Los Angeles prison on October 28, 2013, after serving two years of a four-year sentence.

Murray moved to Trinidad at the age of seven to live with his mother. He completed high school, worked as a teacher, customs clerk and insurance underwriter before moving to the US to pursue his education and career in medicine. His medical licenses remain suspended or revoked in the United States.
