Dancehall entertainer Mavado has lost his appeal against his conviction for assault and malicious destruction of property.
In its judgement moments ago, the Court said it did not find anything to disturb the Resident Magistrate’s ruling.
The Court of Appeal heard legal arguments this week and had reserved judgment to today.
Mavado, whose real name is David Brooks, was found guilty in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court last May.
He was sentenced to pay a fine of $80,000 (~$800.00USD) or six months in prison on the assault charge, and $20,000 (~$200.00USD) or six months on the charge of destruction of property.
The charges against Mavado stemmed from an incident on July 22, 2011, when he and members of his entourage attacked St James man, Henry Cunningham, and his son, Oshane, in what was described as a case of road rage.
During the altercation, the father and son sustained multiple injuries and the vehicle in which they were travelling was damaged.
