The Jamaican Consul General to Miami, R. Oliver Mair invites you to the inaugural staging of “Jamaican Hi-5K Walk/Run” event on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Central Broward Regional Park.
The event will begin at promptly at 7:00 a.m., simultaneously across five Diaspora areas in the Southern USA region. Atlanta, GA; Houston, TX; Orlando, FL; and the tri-county South Florida are the participating areas in Southern USA regions that have collaborated to impact healthcare in Jamaica. This community event is intended to bring together Diasporans, families and friends inside each area to kick-start another new health experience inside our communities. The day is filled with various activities: walk/run, kiddies’ zone, and health screening & health awareness workshops.
The Atlanta event will take place simultaneously as well at Shorty Howell Park in Duluth, GA Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 7AM-12:00pm.
This health initiative a fundraising and also serves to create awareness to the Adopt-a-clinic initiative rolled out by the Ministry of Health & Wellness , Jamaica. The AAC Initiative by the Ministry, seeks to engage the Diaspora along with the private sector to play a critical role in improving access to primary health care for people in Jamaica in 100 clinics across the island. Our effort is to secure at least 5 adoptions for this activity.
