New York Fashion week has become increasingly diverse as the years go by. From an exclusively Australian showcase to Turkish and Hong Kong designers. The one international born designer I was personally anticipating the most, is Madame Adassa.

Designer, Marsha Vacirca mastered her skills of sewing and designing through an unsolicited apprenticeship under her mother, a well known designer on the beautiful island of Jamaica, where the designer hails from. Years of hard work in the families West Indian Atelier combined with a formal education. A masters degree to be exact, which has paid off. Madame Adassa’s portfolio now includes accomplishments such as being featured in Vogue Britain. A new notch was added to the designers belt on February 10th, when she debuted her Fall/Winter 2019 collection at New York Fashion Week.

Photographs do not do her designs justice. The textiles and fabrics incorporated in all of her gowns exude an air of elegance. The glamorously chic apparel should be donned by the likes of celebrities and royalty. Mrs. New York was in attendance, further cementing my sentiments. At the shows closing I had the honor of interviewing the designer, Marsha Vacirca. It was a pleasure discussing her vision and inspiration for the line and look forward to attending future shows.
