Today, dancehall superstar and star of the wildly successful Love and Hip Hop Atlanta franchise Grace Hamilton aka “Spice” stunned social media with the promo artwork for her new mix tape “Captured”.  The artwork shows a barely recognizable Spice due to the light, bright, almost white color of her skin!

Needless to say, social media is in a frenzy.  So much that I’m not sure they even noticed that she indicated this was a “fresh start” and DELETED ALL prior posts on her Instagram timeline.

Spice is a smart, savvy and hard working entertainer and businesswoman. I’m pretty sure this is some sort of social experiment because her beautiful chocolate skin is one of her attributes that makes her different in a pop entertainment world filled with light, bright pigmentation.

Here are some of the comments on social media:

Do you know what’s going on here — is it real or a social experiment?  What is real is Spice’s new mix tape “Captured”.  It is now available and interestingly enough she is in all her glory in her beautiful, chocolate skin.  If you listen to the first track on her mixtape, “Black Hypocrisy” then you might understand that is is all a ploy to bring attention to the issue of racism amongst blacks.  Yes, Spice mi likey – this is a brilliant pr/social media ploy!!!

respect due to me strong melanin. proud of mi color, love the skin that I’m in. Done racism, the malice, colorism but the things wha mi ah go say you may not even love me back.  I get hate from my own race, yes that’s a fact cuz the same black people dem say I’m too black and if you bleach out your skin dem same one come a chat.  Well since you say dat I’m too black for you I please you to look how you want me to. ~Lyrics from Spice’s song
