NYC’s Annual R&B and Reggae Festival Will Feature Performances by Toots & The Maytals, Barrington Levy, Cocoa Tea, Queen Ifrica and TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank)

The annual New York City music festival Groovin In The Park is pleased to announce their third concert for Sunday June 30 at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, New York. This year’s concert lineup will feature reggae legends like Toots & The Maytals, Barrington Levy, Cocoa Tea and Queen Ifrica as well as r&b powerhouse TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank). More acts will be announced at a later date.

The eclectic event, that converges the most awe-inspiring talent from both the r&b and reggae world, has already cemented an enviable reputation. Gladys Knight, Boyz II Men, Kenny “Baby Face” Edmonds, Beres Hammond, Jimmy Cliff, Beenie Man, Tarrus Riley and Machel Montano are just a few of the musical icons who have graced the stage in previous years.

Lead singer Toots Hibbert of Toots & The Maytals expressed his enthusiasm about this year’s concert. “I am excited about performing at Groovin In The Park. It is gonna be a grooving event, and I am encouraging families to come out early and enjoy the show,” he proclaims.

Groovin In The Park founder and CEO Chris Roberts adds, “I am personally very delighted that my team and I have been able to perfect our game plan and return to Roy Wilkins Park for the third year with another world class production that is guaranteed to thrill music lovers across the New York tri-state region.”

This year’s festival will have a wide array of talent. Reggae lovers can chant ever last word to Jamaica’s rising roots singer Queen Ifrica’s empowering lyrics and recite the timeless hit-filled repertoire from Grammy-winning Toots & The Maytals, Barrington Levy and Cocoa Tea – who have all defined excellence in Jamaican music throughout pivotal eras. Fans will also enjoy the sultry r&b sounds from supergroup TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine and Tank). The three successful singers and best friends joined forces in 2007 and are gearing up for their 2013 debut album on Atlantic Records.

The one-day park extravaganza, located on Merrick and Baisley Blvd, will open its gates at 12pm noon on the day of show. Kids 12 and under are free. Earlybird tickets before Mother’s Day are $49.99 for general admission and $100 for VIP. After May 12, the ticket price will be $69.99 for general admission and $120 for VIP.
