Additional details have been confirmed for the celebration of the life and legacy of civil rights icon, Mrs. Evelyn Gibson Lowery  As of this evening the Lowery family has confirmed the following schedule of events:

Home-Going Celebration for Mrs. Evelyn Gibson Lowery
Martin Luther King Jr., International Chapel
at Morehouse College
Viewing from 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Celebration begins promptly at 11:00 a.m.
Internment will take place at Westview Cemetery

Mrs. Lowery is the wife of civil rights activist Rev. Joseph E. Lowery and founder of S.C.L.C./Women, Inc. the sister organization of the historic civil rights organization, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (S.C.L.C.), the creator of the annual Drum Major for Justice Awards that takes place annually in April in Atlanta, GA and the creator of the annual Evelyn G. Lowery Civil Rights Heritage Educational Tour.  Having suffered a massive stroke on the evening of September 18th, Mrs. Lowery made her transition in the early hours of Thursday, September 26th in the comforts of her home, surrounded by family and her husband of close to 70 years.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations may be payable to either:
