Grammy Award winning R&B legend Gladys Knight has been added to the stellar lineup for the 2012 ‘Groovin In The Park’ concert which unfolds at Roy Wilkins Park in Queens, NY on Sunday, July 1st.
“Gladys is a music icon and one of the biggest R&B stars. We are honored, excited and sincerely grateful to have such an icon on our stellar lineup” Christopher Roberts, CEO of Groovin Inc, parent company of ‘Groovin In The Park’ said.

The powerful vocals of Gladys Knight have graced some of the the biggest songs of our time and have shaped the history of R&B. In a dazzling career that spans several decades as a successful R&B singer and songwriter, the four-time Grammy winner has etched her name in the annals of music history with hits like ‘Midnight Train To Georgia,’ ‘I Heard It Through the Grapevine,’ ‘Friendship Train,’ ‘If I Were Your Woman,’ ‘I Don’t Want To Do Wrong’ and the Grammy Award winning ‘Neither One of Us’ which has made her a household name to millions of fans globally.

Last year the ‘Empress of Soul’ grabbed headlines for delivering a memorable performance at the tribute concert for the King of Pop Michael Jackson that featured Jennifer Hudson, Beyonce, and Smokey Robinson. She was in the spotlight again for being honored with a “Legend Award” at the 3rd annual Soul Train Awards that was broadcast on the BET. Earlier this year, she competed on the 14th season of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” partnering with Tristan McManus. Through her television appearances, she won a generation of new fans with her gutsy performances each night.

Knight will be joined on stage at ‘Groovin In The Park’ by Boyz 11 Men, reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, Beres Hammond and dancehall King Beenie Man.
‘Groovin In The Park’ is sponsored in part by Grace, WBLS, 105.7FM and the Door Restaurant.
