Black Panther has finally debuted and did not disappoint!  The futuristic Marvel Studios comic book super hero movie broke several box office records including being the highest grossing debut for a black director and fourth highest opening for ANY superhero movie.   Black Panther, heralded as a game changer for Africans in film has a pretty impressive lineup of Hollywood favorites including Chadwick Boseman, Michael, B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Forest Whitaker , Andy Serkis and Angela Bassett. In addition to the aforementioned Hollywood heavyweights, there were also some Caribbean heavyweights making their statement in Black Panther. 

From the Bahamas, to Tobago to Grenada and more, here are some of the actors who made their Caribbean mark in Black Panther.  Biggup to all of them!

Letitia Wright - Guyanese

Letitia Wright – Guyanese


Letitia Wright, 24, plays Shuri, in the movie, is the sister of the King of Wakanda and the ‘Smartest Person in the World.’  She was born in Georgetown, Guyana.

Winston-Duke - Tobago

Winston Duke – Tobago


Winston Duke,  who plays super villain M’Baku, was born in Argyle Village, Tobago and migrated to the United States when he was nine-years-old.

Nabiyah Be - Brazilian-born (daughter of Jimmy Cliff)

Nabiyah Be – Brazilian-born (daughter of Jimmy Cliff)


Nabiyah Be plays Nightshade. She is the Brazilian born daughter of Jamaican Reggae sensation Jimmy Cliff.

Jason Elwood Hanna was born on February 21, 1985 in Nassau, Bahamas. He is known for his work on Black Panther (2018) as one of the stunt-men on set.

Sydelle Noel, Grenada


Sydelle Noel plays one of the Dora Milaje warriors. She was born in Grenada.

Shaunette Renee Wilson


Shaunette Renee Wilson plays a Dora Milaje warrior. She’s Guyanese
